IMA Coimbatore Branch – August 2026

Dear Members and Friends,

It gives me immense pleasure to present the August 2026 newsletter of the Indian Medical Association, Coimbatore Branch. The month reflected our continued commitment to service, solidarity, professional excellence and community engagement.

Our Women Doctors’ Wing conducted several breastfeeding awareness programmes, while Achamindri Sel Pennae and Valar Ilam Pen initiatives focused on women’s safety, adolescent health and empowerment.
Community outreach remained a major focus through diabetic screening, NCD camps, village wellness initiatives and children’s wellness programmes. At Kuppanur, sixteen patients benefited from free cataract surgery, while outreach activities at Moongil Madaikuttai addressed broader community needs.
Organ and eye donation awareness continued with an Organ Donation Rally and Walkathon conducted with PSG Hospitals, involving around 500 students and spreading the message of giving the gift of life. Eye donation rally at Race course with District collector and Coimbatore society of Ophthalmic surgeons reflected our commitment to Eye donation.

On the professional front, our branch participated actively in CME programmes and administrative coordination. The meeting with the District Collector and submission of IMA Tamil Nadu’s draft SOPs for protection of medical professionals marked an important step towards constructive engagement.

It was also a proud moment for our IMA Coimbatore Fine Arts team, which secured first place in the overall zonal championship.

I sincerely appreciate all our office bearers, committee members and volunteers for their dedication and teamwork. Every initiative strengthens our collective purpose of serving the medical profession and society.
