Quarterly Report (January – March 2026) From the Honorary Secretary

The Indian Medical Association (IMA) Coimbatore Branch commenced the year 2026 with renewed enthusiasm, guided by the theme “Members Advancing Together.” The first quarter has been a period of dynamic activity, reflecting our unwavering commitment to community service, academic excellence, and member welfare.


In January 2026: A Promising Beginning began with the Installation ceremony of the Office bearers of 2026 on June 4 th. The key projects Diabetic Awareness project ,Eye Retrieval Centre Initiative andAwareness on Drug Abuse was initiated on the day.The year began on a vibrant and unifying note, setting the tone for the months ahead. A landmark moment for our branch was the Pongal celebration at CIMACT Land, organized for the very first time. This event witnessed the participation of over 100 doctors and their families, fostering camaraderie and strengthening bonds within our fraternity.Our commitment to community service was clearly evident through multiple outreach initiatives. Road Safety Awareness Programs were conducted to promote responsible practices among the public at Gandhipuram junction tagged with the BLS Support program. During the Thaipusam festival, dedicated medical camps were organized to provide first aid and emergency care to devotees, ensuring their safety and well-being.In addition, Non-Communicable Disease (NCD) Screening were conducted on a weekly basis at the IMA premises , reinforcing our focus on preventive healthcare and early diagnosis. The highlight of the month was the felicitation of Senior IMA doctors during the 77 thRepublic Day. The CME Progtram by the AMS (Academy of specialities) wing on Paediatric Cardiology and the CGP(The Collegium of General Practitioners on Anaphylaxis kit emphasised our Importance to our Academic and general practioners to enhance their knowledge .The branch actively observed National Girl Child Day, organizing programs that highlighted the importance of education, health, and empowerment of the girl child. Similarly, World Leprosy Day was commemorated with awareness initiatives aimed at reducing stigma and promoting early detection and treatment.

February 2026. was the month Of Advocacy and Professional Security.A specially designed program by the Nursing home board on BIS Standards for Hospitals and Nursing homes was well perceived by the audience ,A sesssion on Professional Prersonal Linked Social security Schemes (PPLSS) was and eye opener for the general practitioners .The prgram was marked by a strong emphasis on social awareness and the protection of the medical fraternity. The World Cancer day with the theme United by Uniqueness witnessed participation of Doctors with health gifts and Well being sessions given to the Cancer care patients

March 2026 was the month Academic Growth and Recognition. The final month of the quarter highlighted the academic strength and collaborative spirit of the branch. Our branch donated a sum of Rupees two lakh to the Head quarters building fund in the State council meet At Sathyamangalam. major highlight was the successful conduct of the Aao Gao Chalo outreach camp at Moongil madai kuttam Our Adopted Village which provided essential healthcare services to underserved communities. Around 150 cataract surgeries were done free of cost to deserving patients and Iron folic Acid tablets given to Anaemic patients .This initiative reflected the humanitarian commitment of our members.

Academic engagement remained high, with excellent participation in the activities of the College of General Practitioners (CGP) and the Academy of Medical Specialties (AMS) meeting during the World Obesity Day was observed .These programs continue to play a crucial role in fostering continuous medical education and professional development. The branch also celebrated International Women’s Day with great enthusiasm, recognizing and honoring women achievers across various domains for their contributions and leadership. A significant aspect of member welfare was demonstrated through the Family Social Security Scheme (FSS), under which financial assistance was extended to three doctor families. This served as a reminder of the importance of solidarity and support within our association.

In Overview The first quarter of 2026 has successfully reinforced the core objectives of IMA Coimbatore.In Community Service through camps, awareness programs, and outreach initiatives,in Academic Excellence through active participation in CGP and AMS programs,
in member Welfare & Protection through promotion of PPLSS, HPS, and FSS schemes.The collective efforts of our members have strengthened both our social impact and internal unity.

Looking Ahead, As we progress through the year, we remain committed to expanding our initiatives, enhancing member engagement, and continuing our service to society with dedication and integrity. I extend my sincere gratitude to all office bearers and members for their unwavering support, cooperation, and active participation in all our endeavors.
